Due to the
large power consumption of motor homes campers, small hybrid RAPS solar
installations and council equipment, Christie Engineering has designed
larger 5.5hp Honda Outback Battery Chargers for charging larger battery
banks. This is a very popular model for RAPS HYBRID systems for backup
battery charging.
Utilising precise internally voltage regulated, genuine Bosch alternators
with technology designed by Christie Engineering, the chargers use components
to switch between two different stages of voltage settings for a fast
or steady charge rate.
Recharging batteries such as AGM’s (absorbed glass matt) is now
easy, as the 12 volt model can recharge up to a rate of 120 amps, but
if using conventional deep cycle batteries, the charger will decrease
the amount of amps and only supply a slow trickle charge over a longer
period of time so no damage can be caused. This is all done through
the internal voltage regulator, which is set precisely to 14.2 volts
on the low setting, and 15 volts on the higher setting.
Our 24 volt DC battery chargers recharge up to a rate of 45 amps, completely
regulated with two charge rates of 28 volts on the low setting and 30
volts on the higher setting.
They all feature an 8mmLED charge indication light, so you can see when
the charger is supplying power.
The chargers can be supplied with, or without lifting frames so they
can be permanently fitted in compartments and can be hard wired or can
be removable with the use of anderson connectors.
The 5.5hp
model is also designed for use in the marine industry for boats and
yachts, backup for hybrid solar powered sites, earthmoving contractors,
emergency services, mobile mechanics, communication repeaters, arrow
boards, council machinery etc.
The
original and best DC battery charger, Designed and tested in the harsh
environments of Australia for the use in all Australian conditions.
All Christie Engineering's DC battery chargers have been tested by HONDA
MPE AUSTRALIA and are engines are garunteed by HONDA MPE AUSTRALIA
Features
Include:
Environmentally
friendly Honda 160cc 5.5 hp 4-stroke engine.
Manual 2 stage charge rate, Low or high charge rate, by the flick of
a switch.
Short circuit and high voltage spike protection included.
Super bright LED charge indication light, fitted with alternator field
excitation switch, which removes power from the rotor when the engine
has stopped.
Lightweight, weighing only 22 kg.
High current Leads included, 3m long with large heavy-duty alligator
clamps.
By
direct coupling, this design totally eliminates all problems accosiated
with belts, pulleys, alternator bearings, mounting and minimises weight.
Ideal uses:
Farmers can supply enough charge in as little as 5
minutes to start machinery.
Run car fridges for 24 hours and charge your batteries in as little
as 1 hour.
12 Volt lighting or other appliances can be powered in emergency situations. This
larger model is best suited for larger high current charging requirements,
such as the marine industry, backup for solar powered sites, motor-homes,
earthmoving contractors, emergency services, mobile mechanics, communication
repeaters, arrow boards, council machinery etc.

Electric
start models are available.
Transport can be arranged COD through Australia Post.
Diesel models are also available.
Whenever
you’re handling or working with a lead-acid battery, consult your
vehicle and battery owners’ manual for instructions and safety
precautions.

Lead-acid
batteries contain hydrogen-oxygen gases than can be explosive and sulfuric
acid that can cause severe burns.
