ONLY DIRECT FROM CHRISTIE ENGINEERING
Christie
Engineering has developed a new driveway alarm system, suitable for any
home or business that has long driveways or noisy environments where vehicles
cannot be heard.
The alarms are extremely popular in rural areas around western Sydney.
One example is its use in small wineries, where the owner can be doing
other duties and be ready at the sales counter when a customer arrives.
The great advantage is that the alarm system requires no installation
and is relocatable if needed. It works similar to a walkie-talkie radio,
with a transmitter and receiver. Simply roll the pressure hose across
the road or driveway and hang the transmitter aerial wire from the nearest
tree or fence post. The transmitter also features a solar charger so no
external power for battery charging is required.
When a vehicle crosses the hose a signal is sent to the aerial on the
receiver box that can be located in your home or business up to 1 km of
each other, it can even be powered from a car or quadbike’s 12 volt
cigarette lighter outlet, so you can quickly get back to the house long
before anyone arrives.
This
product is not a burglar alarm and should not be relied on in these situations.
All
our products are guaranteed for 1 year against any faults in materials
or workmanship.

Installation of the driveway alarm is as simple as rolling the pressure
hose across your driveway in a convenient position within 1 km of your
home.
• Place the plastic enclosure box with the solar panel up well off
the road in a raised position, or located on some bricks to keep the transmitter
out of any water.
• Tie the small aerial wire in a vertical position on the nearest
fence post, tree or power pole.
Now for the receiver in your home, shed or business:
• Simply plug in the transformer power supply to your 240volt power
outlet and push the 12volt plug all the way into socket on the black receiver
box.
• Hang the aerial wire up in a vertical position, or it can hang
down from a window sill or curtain rail.
Battery Care:
The transmitter on
your driveway is fitted with a standard 12 volt 1.2 Amp Hour Gel-pack
battery, which is recharged by the solar panel on the enclosure.
The battery like all batteries has a limited life span and may need replacing.
Make sure the solar panel is in direct sunlight and not covered by any
grass or shrubs, as this will slowly flatten the battery. New batteries
are available direct from Christie Engineering, or you will find them
in your nearest electronics store (Dick Smiths, Tandy, Jaycar etc).
Whenever you’re handling or working with a lead-acid battery, consult
your battery owners’ manual for instructions and safety precautions.
Lead-acid batteries contain hydrogen-oxygen gases than can be explosive
and sulfuric acid that can cause severe burns.
Warranty:
Your driveway alarm
is guaranteed against any faults in materials and manufacturing processes
(excluding the battery or aerial wires – we have found cows love
to chew them!).
Please keep the transmitter away from animals, they have been known to
destroy the odd plastic box, and set the alarm off at night time when
your least expecting a visitor.
