Our machines can extract 1 metre undisturbed soil samples in the most unpenetrable soils in under 10 seconds continuously.

Mechanised soil sampling and coring equipment is used not only for soil surveys but for a wide range of agricultural research and environmental monitoring projects throughout Australia.

Australian designed and manufactured, these machines are specifically developed for Australia's hard and dry conditions and are capable of taking undisturbed soil samples to a depth not achieved in the past. The machine is extremely light weight, easy to operate and easy to mount onto a Hayman-reece type towbar for convenient transport.

The soil sampler has a long hydraulic mast which supports the hydraulic breaker, or otherwise known as a jackhammer. If a resistance to penetration occurs, due to dry hard conditions or dense clay subsoil at a desired depth, the tube can be hammered down using the hydraulic breaker attatched to the ram. The sampler can penetrate weathered rock or silt bedrock, but only at the risk of damage to the sampling tube tips. Standard sampling tubes for deep N testing are 1 meter long, and 38mm in diameter with a tip diameter 1-2 mm larger externally for to clear the outside wall from the surrounding soil and for easier extraction methods. The tubes are 1-2 mm smaller in the internal diameter at the tip to prevent the soil core sticking to the inside walls.

For environmental research and deeper type sampling to a depth of 2metres with larger 50mm diameter tubes, the soil sampling machine can be installed into a box trailer. The hydraulic power unit which powers the system is mounted on the tray of a utility, four-wheel drive or trailer.

Features include:

Standard hydraulic power units, driven by a GX270 270cc 9hp. Honda 4 stroke petrol engine.

Larger auger driven machines are powered by bigger Honda engines, sized to suit the application.

Mast has adjustable down-force through the use of a pressure reducing valve, and a maximum upward force of 3,000 kg, which takes approximately 2 seconds to extractl the tube.

Atlas Copco hydraulic breaker hammers are used, weighing 23 kg and producing 2500 blows per minute, which makes the sampling process a dream.

Adjustable support foot to suit vehicle hight, when the sampling tube is extracted.

Two standard chrome molybdenum probe tubes are supplied with each machine, which fit into the hydraulic breaker anvil. The forged one piece chrome moly probes are six times stronger than normal mild steel tubes, giving unsurpassed performance and long life.

Load rated ratchet tie down straps are used for stability from the top of the hydraulic mast to the tray sides of the vehicle, which makes installation of the machine simple, fast, and lightweight.

Custom designed and built machines are not a problem as we do realise every person requires different needs, and uses for their machine. We have designed and built several trailer mounted machines, with larger sampling diameters and deeper core tests. Augers have been installed on many of our machines for council white guide post installations for long highway runs, where traditional tractor augers were used, and proved too slow. Many of our machines feature diesel driven power units, which are required to run larger hydraulic auger motors with larger spiral flight auger drill bits up to 200mm in diameter.

Spare parts are readily available as off shelf items such as hydraulic breaker anvills, collars, and replacement soil probes.
